Opps, this is a week or so late, sorry.
January was a month of wet, windy, chilly weather so perfect for warm woolly knits 🙂
Such an exciting weekend… well Sunday anyway. We went to visit these lovely ladies and their offspring, just outside Mold. Aren’t they cute?
As you can tell they have recently been sheared and soon, we hope to have the yarn in the shop.
The fleeces are being spun in Bodfari, so the overall ‘yarn’ miles is under 35 miles, now that is local yarn. Making it a very environmentally friendly, local product.
With each alpaca being unique and the fleeces being spun separately, you know which alpaca the yarn is from and the shadings are all unique too. Making the yarn ideal for hats, gloves and scarves as it is between aran and DK weight, with lengths of 70- 88m per 50g ball.
We have a few balls of Misty and Nina in the shop already and the rest will be along soon…
So sorry, the time has got away from us and we have been meaning to try and put the rest of our suppliers up so here they are:
As I obviously have nothing else to do… I thought I would have a play with some Dylon Forest Green Cold Dye!
Here is what I started with ….
And this is what came out after an hour…. definitely not what I was expecting!
The cotton string tying them up came out a lovely forest green colour. It amazed me the way different fibres take to the dyes. The flat yarn was a merino/nylon mix and I have no idea what the boucle is – came out of the stash…..
How do I describe all the emotions that are going on! The main one being excitement as I embark on a new adventure in the yarn world.
The plans for the shop are progressing, although there is work to do on the premises before I can get in! Then of course there is the work to get the shop looking good 🙂
I have started ordering yarn, and know what else I will be stocking but you will have to wait and see…
The logo is now ready to be revealed.
As soon as the yarn starts to arrive I will keep you informed, keep your eyes on the FB page too!
Happy woolly thoughts x
